Marjane's life is full of exploration, disappointments and hard life lessons. After reading the novel we highly recommend the animated movie as it compliments the book quite nicely. What is also revealing is that even in a country with strict conduct codes women are treated so drastically different from men. It is a wonderful coming of age story that reveals the conflicting rich history of Iran. Wise, often funny, sometimes heart-breaking, Persepolis tells the story of Marjane Satrapis life in Tehran, growing up during the Iranian Revolution. Persopolis was on the reading list for my daughter who is entering 9th grade. ![]()
